Objectives
Ethiopia is a country that experiences a lot of different hazards. Floods and drought have had an enormous impact but geohazards (including earthquakes, landslides, volcanic activity and ground fissuring) pose risks to lives, livelihoods and economic development in the country.
The purpose of this workshop was to
Discuss the challenges that geohazards and their impacts present to society
Facilitate discussions among geohazard risk stakeholders whose coordinated efforts may enable the impacts of future geohazard events to be reduced, and
Discuss how science and scientists can support these efforts
The workshop brings together a wide range of people, perspectives and experiences from government, humanitarian and development organizations, the private sector, international organizations and academia.
